The Great American Novel

So, I started writing my book recently. I don't want to say too much about it, or reveal its contents. I will say this. Part of the book is a story that I've been forming in my head, wanting to write for several years now. Another part is one that I am loosely basing on the life of an acquaintance. From there, I'm adding autobiographical elements. The story is more or less a setup for the overall thesis, which will be revealed at the end. All in all, I believe it will be a book worth writing. I have no timetable for it's completion. It'll take however long it takes. As long as it's finished, that's all that counts. To be continued...

No, CPU. *I* am booking this crap!

In an effort to maximize my video game entertainment dollar, I am skipping the PS4 and focusing on the one gaming device I have left: The Original Wii. I am not a fan of the Wii controller, so I decided to buy games that utilize the "classic controller" that look and feel similar to the one that PlayStation uses. I bought Madden 12 a while back for my football fix, and just recently bought WWE '12 to satisfy my wrestling fix. Here's the thing. When I play wrestling games, I have to be the ultimate booker. I'm changed some of the lame-ass WWE PPV names. I'm bringing back Backlash, No Mercy, and even Clash of Champions for early October. I'm fine with letting the CPU pick the winners, but I choose what the matches are and who turns face/heel. I have a system for what matches go on each show and each PPV (i.e. Superstars features divas, midcarders and cruiserweights, including 190-lb. Daniel Bryan, while RAW and Smackdown feature t...

The Mother Sucks! (and so does this season)

Okay, this is long overdue, but I have to get this off my chest. Here goes… The Mother. It doesn’t work for me. I’m not a Broadway buff. I have no prior knowledge of this person. I’m sure Cristin Milioti is an excellent actor, and this is not a knock on her personally, but she is not “it” for me. I am deeply disappointed. For nine years, they have built this tremendous cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers. They needed to pay it off in the biggest way possible. They needed to secure an attractive, big name actor to be the ultimate woman. They needed someone who blows Ted’s mind AND somehow puts up with his quirks when no one else on the show can. Most importantly, they needed to get someone who EVERYBODY knows!! They needed one of the following: a classic TV star (i.e. Soleil Moon Frye), a current film star (i.e. Kristen Stewart), an ALMOST current film star (i.e. Charlize Theron or Jessica Biel), or a semi-current TV star who is available (i.e.Jamie Pressly). They needed to provide ...

The Shellie Blum Story

I know today is a football day, but I've just come across an amazing story worthy of a best seller and/or a Hollywood film. Wouldn't you know, she has a book and a screenplay, but has faced multiple rejections. Her name is Shellie Blum. Please feel free to check her out! http://www.linkedin.com/pub/shellie-blum/27/560/106 http://shellieblum.com/home.html

1987 Topps George Foster

So, I did manage to hit up the local card show this morning before feeling sick again. No, it wasn't that bad, but it did get me into baseball card fever. For those who don't know me well, I am an avid baseball card collector. I have a large collection, including several Topps sets from 1981 to 1993. I often think about 'what if' as it relates to certain players who either retire at seasons end or are unceremoniously dumped mid-season. We are deprived of one last card which would list his entire career statistics on the back. For example, we never got a 1984 Topps Carl Yastremzski upon his 1983 departure. We never had a 1974 Topps Willie Mays after his "heroics" in the 1973 World Series. So, with nothing to do but sit in bed all day, I decided to do a super photoshop hatchet job and create one last card for a former 1986 Mets player. He was released in August, subsequently signed with the Chicago White Sox, and was cut by THEM after 15 games. I present...
